2011 American League Pennant Odds
Leading sports betting destination 5Dimes sportsbook is now favoring the Boston Red Sox to win the 2011 World Series.
Boston Red Sox Odds: +225
The Red Sox had a terrible start to the season, but as of May 29th they lead the tough AL East and have been one of the hottest teams in the Majors for the last few weeks. The reason they are winning is their offense ranking 4th in runs scored. Adrian Gonzalez lead the AL in RBI and David Ortiz is among the league leaders in HR. Off-season prize Carl Crawford struggled out of the games, but he is starting to hit, but the pitching is still a concern. Josh Becket, who leads the AL in ERA, and Jon Lester, who leads the league in wins, are getting it done, but the Boston staff only has the 21st ranked team ERA.
New York Yankees Odds: +300
The Yankees are getting it done on offense as well scoring the most runs in the American League and Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira rank in the top 5 in the AL in HR and A-Rod is having another solid season. Starters C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett are having good seasons and Bartolo Colon was a great addition to a staff that ranks 14th in the Majors in team ERA.
Texas Rangers Odds: +600
The Rangers are a good betting value at +600 since they are the defending AL champs and they recently got Josh Hamilton back from an arm injury. Texas leads the tight AL West and their offense ranks 9th in the Majors in runs scored. Adrian Beltre has been great in his first season in a Texans’ uniform and DH Michael Young is among the league leaders in batting average. The young staff ranks 13th in team ERA and while the Rangers are a great team at home they are several games under .500 on the road.
Tampa Bay Rays Odds: +750
The Rays have been a surprise so far this season, as they are still in the AL East race even though lost some big players in the off-season. Matt Joyce and Ben Zobrist are young stars in the making and their young staff led by David Price and James Shields ranks 10th in team ERA. One issue is their play at home, as they have a much better road record than home record.
Cleveland Indians Odds: +800
The Indians have come out of nowhere to lead the AL Central and they have the best record in the AL as of May 29th. The offense ranks 5th in runs scored and they have the biggest division lead of any division in baseball. Mike Tomlin leads a surprising staff that ranks a respectable 12th in the majors in team ERA.
Detroit Tigers Odds: +800
Detroit has the offense, but they only have the league 24th ranked team ERA and they trail the surprising Indians by 6.5 games in the AL Central.
The Angels (+1000), A’s (+1000), and Mariners (+3000) are all within 2 games of the Rangers in the wide-open AL West and Seattle has been the hottest team in the league in the last 10 games.
